This is certainly one of our bigger wedding cakes. This cake catered for approx 620 guests and the base tier was a massive 20 inches!
Helen and Lee had their ceremony at St Mary’s church in Leigh Woods and then went to Tortworth court for their reception. The florist they used was ‘Suzzane Flowers’ and in Helen’s bouquet were dusky pink peonies and white roses . Helen tried to keep the theme vintage / English country garden by using traditional English flowers and having Pimms for their reception drinks on the lawns of Tortworth Court. The tables for the wedding breakfast were named after trees in the Arboretum at Tortworth Court and they used mini love heart sweets for favours. Their cake was a mixture of Vanilla and raspberry, rich chocolate cake and of course the good old traditional fruit cake.
One of our most popular cakes and probably my favourite, clean white and green just wins me over every time. This 4 tier wedding cake is adorned with a cascade of white sugar roses and scattered green leaves. The simplicity of the colours against a dotted white background makes for a beautiful cake.
Eleri and Iain got married at Stanton Manor in August. The theme Eleri was going for was English country garden. She already new that she wanted sage green to be on the cake while fresh flowers were a great way to keep to the country garden theme. The flowers were Avalanche roses in pink and ivory with freeshias, these were provided by Fiesta Flowers. Eleri and Iain’s cake was a mixture of classic vanilla and rich chocolate.
Megan got married at Homewood park in August 2012, she wanted something understated and elegant yet beautiful. Megan opted for this simple 3 tiered white cake which had a very thin diamante trim around the base of the top and bottom tier, while the middle tier had a simple diamante brooch. The cake consisted of a rich chocolate sponge, a light zesty lemon sponge while the top tier was a rich orange and ginger fruit cake… something there to keep everyone happy!
This 18th Birthday cake was made for young lady called April. Designing this cake was fun, as I was told April didn’t like anything too girlie (quite hard for me as my cakes are as girlie as it gets!) We decided green was definitely the colour to go with and the bird was must too. Happy 18th Birthday April!
Chris and Kayleigh got married at the lovely Coombe Lodge in Blagdon on 30th June 2012. When I first met them both I new immediately what style of wedding they wanted… one with the wow factor. They certainly achieved this as they were nominated for Bristol and Somerset Magazine’s ‘Wedding of the year’. This 5 tiered ivory wedding cake was decorated with a cascade of flowers made up from shades of purple and ivory and then embellished with little crystals that sat in between the blooms to match the brides bouquet. This cake was really personalised by having a monogram with the bride and grooms initials piped in silver as the centre piece. The cake was made from traditional fruit cake and vanilla sponge. Kayleigh and Chris both got in touch to say they absolutely loved the cake, although it was a shame there was nothing left at the end of it!

Hannah and Jorg got married in the Thythe Barn at Priston Mill in Bath, on 28th September 2012.When Hannah came to my Cake kitchen in Bristol she had brought along some images of her wedding dress. This is becoming more and more popular, having the cake decoration resembling the embellishment on the dress. Hannah’s wedding dress was particularly beautiful, the material was adorned with hundreds of cut out flowers of all different shapes and sizes. The overall look was very unique and amazingly for me would work perfectly in icing form on Hannah’s wedding cake. This 4 tier wedding cake consisted of 2 layers of lemon cake, 1 layer of rich chocolate cake and the largest layer was the classic vanilla and raspberry. After the wedding Hannah left a little message on my facebook wall saying ‘the cake was absolutely ammaaaaaazzzing thank you so much
)) Needless to say I think the cake went down well!

Ria and Jake got married in Goldeney Hall, Bristol where they had the most wonderful unusual wedding. They described the theme in their own words as ‘Victorian natural history with butterfly undertones’. Ria and Jake met in the Zoology Department tea room at the University of Cambridge where they bonded over a shared love of nature, photography and music. Their wedding cake was a 3 tier Orange and Ginger fruit cake which had a scattering of natural realistic butterflies made from sugar on the front of the cake. It tied in perfectly with the whole theme of the day.

Anna Tyler is one of the UK’s top wedding cake designers and is based in Bristol, but designed wedding cakes for people across the country including: Bath, Reading, London, Windsor, Marlow, Kent, Birmingham…
In August this year we were delighted to be asked by Brides magazine to design a wedding cake that could be used in an up and coming shoot. Our brief was a wedding cake similar in style to the blue cameo cake but in pastel mint green. It needed to have detailed piping in white along with a monogram. We also like the idea of mixing up the shape and heights of the tiers. This is what we created…
You can see our cake featured in the most recent issue of Brides Magazine page 227.
What are they I hear you cry!

It’s been a while since my last news item, as I have been very busy indeed. All the hard work must be paying of though, because I have been lucky enough to be nominated for the ‘Best Wedding Cake Design‘ at the Perfect Wedding Awards 2011.
I’m up against some of London’s top wedding cake designers and being the underdog in this competition it would be really amazing to WIN!!!
So please, please, please vote for me here or click on the logo.
Thank you to anyone and everyone who votes, now I had better go and write my acceptance speech. I’m joking of course!

Daniel and Daniella got married at Berwick Lodge in Bristol on 11th December 2010. This white, black and gold wedding cake was a bespoke design which i very much enjoyed making. It included white cameos, black bows and golden leaves. I also made matching biscuit favours which were given out to the guests at the wedding.
Wedding favour cookies are becoming a more and more popular choice for brides who want to give something to their guests to take away. I was recently asked to do 150 personalized cookies wrapped in clear polythene bags tied with gold ribbon. Each guests name was piped onto the vanilla cookie and used as their name place on the table settings.
After a little hard work and some serious planning we have managed to get a date set and some flyers printed. All we need now is to spread the word of our special little wedding fair.
On Sunday 25th April 1pm-6pm Scarlett and Belle’s Boutique cordially invite you to attend an intimate wedding fair for brides seeking stylish and unique wedding ideas.
To be held at Studio 5.14 @ Paintworks, Bath Road, Bristol.
It’s always exciting when friends and family decide to tie the knot, so when 2 of my best friends, Imogen and Kieran decided to get married I knew this was going to be a memorable day. Their wedding took place on Saturday 10th April at Treown castle in Wales. The whole day was just perfect, from the glorious weather to the amazing food. With the wedding being in April, blossom was in full bloom all around the grounds, while Emma Petersson the florist did a fantastic job of bringing the blossoms inside. I was so pleased to be asked to make their cake, especially when I was told the inspiration was wild blossom. It was a 5 tier white cake with brown piped twig like branches adorned with hundreds of tiny white blossoms sitting around the top edges of each tier.

This week I finally got to start a wedding cake that I have been looking forward to making for the last 6 months! Mary Lee and Duncan got married this weekend at the Commercial Rooms in Bath. They came to me with a pretty open mind but knew they wanted something a little different than your average wedding cake. With their save the date cards as inspiration we decided to go with a different shaped multi tiered cake in pale pink, black and gold. I loved the idea of using the black silhouette heads from the card on the cake and also on the favour cookies which were given to guests to take home with them.
Myself and a few fellow wedding designers around Bristol have decided to get together and put on a wedding exhibition at Paintworks on Bath Rd in Bristol. We all love each others work and think it would be really great to be able to pull our ideas together and have them all under one roof. To be able to promote the wedding fair we needed to get some great images, so set up a photography shoot in Morag Macdonalds studio. Here are a few of my favourite images.
